PA State Inspection

Each year, Pennsylvania requires all vehicle owners to have their cars inspected for safety and emissions. Safety inspections are performed on over 11 million Pennsylvania cars annually. Your vehicle must pass inspection to continue to drive legally in Pennsylvania.

Kitch Automotive is an official safety and emissions inspection station serving Greensburg, PA, Latrobe, PA, Hempfield Township, PA, and surrounding areas. If you need a safety inspection to stay in compliance with Pennsylvania law, visit us today.

What Will My Inspection Entail?

During your vehicle safety inspection, Kitch Automotive will check the following items:

  • Suspension components
  • Steering
  • Braking Systems
  • Tires and Wheels
  • Lighting and Electrical Systems
  • Glazing (glass)
  • Mirrors
  • Windshield Washer Fluid, Defroster, and Wipers
  • Fuel Systems
  • Speedometer and Odometer
  • Exhaust systems
  • Horns and Warning Devices
  • Body
  • Chassis

An emissions inspection can also be performed at this time.

What Happens if My Vehicle Doesn't Pass Inspection?

If for whatever reason, your vehicle should not pass inspection, one of our trained advisers will be available to answer any questions you may have, explain the problem and how to correct it, and re-inspect your vehicle within 30 days.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Website

"Your re-inspection will be free, as long as you have it done within 30 days at the same place that conducted the initial inspection. If your car still doesn't pass the inspection, and you can show that you have spent at least $150 on emissions-related repairs, you may be eligible for a one-year waiver."

"In some cases, you may have to spend more if the repair is the only reasonable way to address the problem, such as replacing a catalytic converter. You must obtain an emissions sticker or a waiver from a certified inspection station and pass a safety inspection before a permanent safety inspection sticker can be applied to your vehicle."

Kitch Automotive will be there to help with all your vehicle inspection and emission inspection needs. For more information, contact us today. We'd be happy to answer any questions you might have.
